Social Security Disability Lawyer FAQs
A Social Security disability lawyer knows that the Social Security disability process can be complicated. Social Security disability attorneys often hear the following questions. Review this brief list of FAQs before meeting with your lawyer for the first time.
How Long Will It Take for Me to Receive Benefits?
If a disability hearing is heard, it may take about 15 months between the time you request a hearing and the decision is made on your case. Additionally, your lawyer can explain that it may take about two to three months for you to receive a decision after the hearing is held unless the administrative law judge issues a bench decision. Social Security disability attorneys often see it take claimants one to two months before they begin to receive current benefits. It takes even longer for them to receive back benefits.

How Will I Know the Date of My Hearing?
You should first hear from your Social Security disability lawyer about your hearing date. Then, you will likely receive a Notice of Hearing letter from the judge.
What Do I Do if I Receive the Notice First?
Contact your lawyer immediately. Someone might have failed to notify your attorney of the date, which he or she must know.
